Many people think that bankruptcy is something only poor or
irresponsible people use. The reality is that many wealthy, responsible people
have gone through this process at some point in their past. Dave Ramsey is no
exception.
David Lawrence Ramsey III was born in 1960 in Antioch,
Tennessee. His lessons in business and finance began at an early age. Ramsey
shared an anecdote in the 20-minute Live Like No One Else documentary detailing
his life. He discussed asking his father for money to buy a popsicle when he
was 12 years old.
Rather than hand over the meager sum, his father instead
turned it into a life lesson by saying “You are old enough to get a job. That’s
where money comes from.”
This conversation inspired Ramsey to develop his
entrepreneurial skills. That same day, he went to a local print shop and had
500 business cards made for his newly created lawn care business. He dabbled in
many other ventures throughout his schooling, including one where he sold
leather bracelets.
These experiences taught him not only how to earn money, but
the value of keeping your word and providing good customer service.
Ramsey set his sights on a higher education and decided to
follow in his parents’ footsteps. Just three weeks after he turned 18, he
passed the test for his real estate license. bankruptcy lawyer
